Description

The Damoli family have been living in Negrar, in the heart of Valpolicella Classico, since 1623. After a few decades when the production of wines had become a family hobby, there was a pivotal generational turn-over: the young brother and sister Daniele (oenologist) and Lara (marketing) decided to modernize the small winery of the gran-father and resumed a small production focused on quality and maniacal care of every stage of the wine production.

Ripasso is also known as ‘baby Amarone’.
The expensive Amarone is made with grapes left to dry after the harvest for up to 4 months: the resulting juicy ‘raisins’ are pressed to obtained the prized, concentrated wine.
And here it’s where the ingenuity of the people of the land came about: what if we steep our simpler, local wine on the discarded (but still rich in flavours) Amarone skins?
And so Ripasso (or “repassed”) was born.

Drink within 10 years, it might be decanted. It matches rich, baked dishes and stews.
